Wellington: Au revoir, North Island!

WELLINGTON: 3 and 4 DECEMBER

We arrived in Wellington on the 3rd of December with the bus from Whanganui. We spend only one and a half days there, as we were excited about finally exploring the South Island. It would have been definitely worth spending a bit more time though.

Being tired of the limited choices offered by our camping kitchen we sweetened our visit with flat white ‘n carrot cake, waffles, indonesian and vegetarian street food. After having passed already one intense month on the north island without even a travel guide in the pocket as well we were hungry to finally learn some theory about what we had experienced. Offering very entertaining and informative exhibitions around New Zealands geography, flora and fauna, history and cultures we got lost for hours in the Te Papa museum. During a break our coffee got sweetened by a short public concert of a Symphonie Orchestra in the museums hall. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see everything as our ferry to the South Island was leaving already in the afternoon.
